Caring for more patients at the same time with digital movement therapy

Small practice, big progress – Schlossphysio, Winterthur, Switzerland

The Schlossphysio physiotherapy practice in Winterthur, Switzerland, founded in 2020, is a small practice dedicated to manual therapy and respiratory therapy. From the very beginning, interactive training with Pixformance was integrated into the movement therapy area – with the goal of caring for more patients at the same time and creating relief in the daily practice routine.

"We wanted a holistic training device that can cover as many muscle groups and movement patterns as possible in sport therapy."

The motivation behind integrating the Pixformance training concept

When founding the practice, Swetlana Zimmermann was clear that she wanted to integrate a device enabling comprehensive movement therapy – covering as many muscle groups and movement patterns as possible, individually adaptable for each patient. Having already had experience with the Pixformance station, a collaboration quickly came about.

Alongside a few small pieces of equipment and a wall bars, Pixformance has been able to replace all other necessary therapy equipment in the practice and is fully central to movement therapy. Some patients at Schlossphysio also already know Pixformance from their own training at the women's fitness chain Mrs.Sporty.

Support and relief in sport therapy

"With very few exceptions, all our patients use the Pixformance offering."

When a patient arrives at Schlossphysio with their therapy prescription, the Pixformance station is introduced as movement therapy support – depending on their health status – after the first or second session. Patients then train independently under virtual guidance, which provides significant relief.

The Pixformance web app has also proven itself for faster therapy success. After the first sessions it is introduced and installed – so patients can access their individual program on their smartphone at any time and perform the exercises at home too.

"Above all, the flexibility offered by the digital training concept was a decisive factor for us."

Managing Director Claas Bickeböller explains the decision for Pixformance:

"We know from experience: in movement therapy, you can explain the exercises and movements a hundred times. Yet most people have forgotten after half an hour that they need to ensure, for example, that their knee stays straight. With Pixformance, they're constantly reminded during movement therapy. So we know that patients always train safely and perform the exercises correctly."

— Claas Bickeböller, Managing Director Schlossphysio

The Swiss healthcare market – patient first

The main motivation for Schlossphysio was different from that of German practices: not the path into the self-pay sector to break free from statutory health insurance. The insurance system in Switzerland works fundamentally differently.

"In Switzerland you can get a prescription much faster, so it's not a problem to receive a new physiotherapy referral every three months for chronic conditions. This means the self-pay sector doesn't have nearly as much significance as it certainly does in Germany."

— Claas Bickeböller

In Switzerland, health insurance is inherently a private matter – basic insurance is mandatory and must be covered by the individual. Physiotherapy is among the services covered by basic insurance. The result: from the therapist's perspective, the patient is more firmly in focus – not the question of how much the insurer will pay out.
