Good Practice Exercise Guide
The exercise is demonstrated by a virtual therapist on-screen with optimal movement sequence. The patient sees himself on the screen while performing the exercise.
Depth Sensor For Movement Analysis
During the exercise, a camera with built-in depth sensor scans 25 joint points of the exerciser within seconds and compares them with the optimal motion sequence.
Feedback In Real-Time
The patient receives individualized feedback that covers individual aspects of movement execution. The feedback is highlighted visually and textually in the patient video in real-time.

What is the Pixformance Station and how does it work in physical therapy?
The 2D Full-HD camera with integrated depth sensor analyzes 25 joint points in real-time. A virtual therapist demonstrates the correct exercise sequence on screen while the patient performs the exercise. The system instantly detects movement deviations and provides visual feedback (arrows, circles) as well as textual feedback directly on screen. After each exercise, the Pixformance Score objectively quantifies movement quality. All data is stored on the online platform.
For which indications is Pixformance suitable?
Multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's syndrome, post-operative rehabilitation (hip, knee, shoulder, spine), neurological rehabilitation, cancer aftercare, geriatric balance and fall prevention training, and general functional movement therapy. Exercises can be adapted for patients in wheelchairs, with walking bars, on a treatment table, or on the floor.
How many patients can train simultaneously with Pixformance?
Thanks to the patented software, multiple patients can train at multiple stations simultaneously without additional staffing. Each patient scans their personal QR code and automatically starts their individual therapy program.
Does Pixformance replace physiotherapists?
No. Pixformance supports and relieves therapists — it does not replace them. The system handles exercise guidance, real-time correction, and documentation automatically. After just 30 minutes of instruction, patients can exercise independently under supervision.
Can Pixformance be used for telerehabilitation and home training?
Yes. The Pixformance Web App allows patients to access their programs at home. The AUVA Accident Hospital Klagenfurt uses this hybrid model: patients come to the clinic once a week and complete the rest of their therapy at home.
What clinical studies exist for Pixformance?
Hochschule Fresenius has conducted multiple studies: effect on walking ability in MS patients, balance and quality of life in Parkinson's, muscular dystrophy (Emery-Dreifuss), and breast cancer aftercare. Pixformance is an EU research partner in the FORTEe project for exercise therapy for children with cancer. The system is in clinical use at Charité Berlin, Medical Park, AUVA, and Oxford Brookes University.
Is Pixformance a certified medical device?
Yes. Pixformance is approved in the USA as a Class 2 medical device (RX) by the FDA. The device complies with the EMC Directive 2004/108/EC and has been manufactured under strict quality and safety controls since 2012.

Pixformance is a partner in the European research project FORTEe
Specially adapted exercise training at the Pixformance Station has already achieved positive effects in adult cancer patients in the context of a study in the past. However, these effects have not yet been clearly demonstrated in children and adolescents. This is where FORTEe comes in, promoting an exercise therapy designed to strengthen young patients for the fight against childhood cancer.
